This new graphic novel called “The Midnight: Shadows” – all about sci-fi stuff. Super original and unique, right?. Never seen anything like it before? Wrong. I have. A million times.

But fine, I’ll admit, the trailer does look pretty cool. I mean, who doesn’t love a good sci-fi adventure with robots and aliens and all that jazz? Oh right, me. Because I have better things to do than read some nerdy graphic novel about space and time and whatever.

Oh, what’s that? The story is – as far as I can see – another intergalactic gang of adventurers and one single Earthling *who might change everything*? Wow, how original. Because we definitely haven’t seen that concept explored in every other sci-fi movie and TV show ever made. Yawn.

But hey, at least the characters seem interesting. We’ve got the brooding bad girl tough-as-nails leader, and of course, the token quirky alien sidekick. Because every sci-fi story needs a quirky sidekick, right?

I’m calling it now – even though we don’t see it, there’s a love triangle. There’s always a love triangle. Nothing says “sci-fi adventure” like a good old love triangle to distract from all the action and cool technology. Can’t wait to see who ends up with who. *eye roll*

But hey, at least the visuals look pretty legit. I mean, I’m sure it’ll be totally believable when the robots start taking over and the world is on the brink of destruction. Totally not overdone at all.

In conclusion, “The Midnight: Shadows” – just another sci-fi graphic novel trying to be edgy and groundbreaking. But hey, who am I to judge? I’ll just stick to my Batman comics and leave the sci-fi to the nerds.
