Acolyte’s R&B Soundtrack Reminds Us of ‘Star Wars Disco’

If you’re listening with the right kind of ears, you’ll hear Star Wars disco in The Acolyte’s R&B soundtrack. ‘Star Wars Disco? What’s that?’

Okay, so yeah: this R&B soundtrack for The Alcolyte – Star Wars’ newest TV show – reminds us of ‘Star Wars Disco’ back in the 70s. Of course Star Wars is a never-ending cash cow for Disney. And now, they’ve found a new way to milk it even further – by incorporating popular musicians into their upcoming series The Acolyte.

When it came to music Star Wars relied solely on composer John Williams and some random orchestra members to create its iconic score. But with the release of “The Power of Two” by Victoria Monét, Disney has finally decided to splurge and bring in Grammy-winning R&B artist into the mix.

Guess what? We’ve been here before. You can call this a ‘blatant attempt to cash in on diversity and representation’ but the truth is, it’s reminiscent of the ‘Star Wars disco’ songs made by Domenico “Meco” Monardo back in the late 70s.

And let’s not forget about Göransson, the composer for The Mandalorian – because apparently hiring one black artist means we’ve achieved equal representation. Amirite?? /s

Now look – ‘The Power of Two’ is a banger. But let’s not forget: ‘Star Wars disco’ aged like milk and I’m not holding out a lot of hope for Victoria Monét. But before we start applauding Disney for their groundbreaking move, let’s not forget that they’ve gone an entire decade without featuring any popular musicians in their Star Wars shows or movies. And now, they’re making up for lost time by throwing catchy tunes at us.

Well, guess what? We’ve done this before. ‘Star Wars Disco’ is a campy joke now, and I’m afraid Acolyte’s R&B soundtrack will become that for us in the near future.

Meantime, keep throwing your money at anything with the words “Star Wars” attached, because who needs genuine talent and creativity when you have a beloved space saga turned cash machine? May the force be with us all *insert eye roll*.

Everything you just said is wrong.
