I’m suspicious of news articles reporting that ‘scifi fans rejoice over Megalopolis release date.’ We are? Really? Do I get a vote on that?
One thing you should know: society has become too comfortable with mediocrity, especially when it comes to science and technology. We keep settling for “good enough” instead of striving for excellence and innovation. And let me tell you, this complacency is not serving us well.
I’ve said it before – our culture’s trend to ‘dumb things down to cater to the masses’ is not a good thing. Who’s purpose is served when we dumb down science and technology? These are fields that require critical thinking, problem-solving, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We should be challenging ourselves and our understanding, not watering it down to make everyone happy.
The thing that gets me about this is that it perpetuates a dangerous cycle. By dumbing down science and technology, we are not only hindering progress and innovation, but we are also lowering the bar for future generations. We are essentially saying, “this is good enough, you don’t need to strive for more.” And that, my friends, is a disservice to ourselves and to the future of our society.
We deserve better. We deserve to have high expectations for our scientific and technological advancements. We deserve to have experts leading the way, not just people who are good at making things seem simple. We deserve to have our minds challenged and expanded, not just fed bite-sized information.
So, let’s quit dumbing things down and start demanding more from our science and technology. It’s time to raise the bar and push for excellence. Because good enough is not good enough, and we all deserve better.
