Well, well, well. Hollywood strikes out once again when it comes to depicting reality in their blockbuster films. Color me shocked. I mean, who would have thought that a movie about a giant lizard destroying cities wouldn’t accurately portray our current climate crisis? Thank goodness for this groundbreaking study, am I right?
But hey, who needs accurate depictions of real-world issues when we can have mindless entertainment? I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson save the world from a giant asteroid while completely ignoring the fact that our planet is on the brink of destruction due to human activity? Sign me up for that popcorn fest.
And let’s not forget about all those superhero movies. Because clearly, the best way to combat climate change is to have a buff dude in a spandex suit punch a few villains and call it a day. Forget about implementing actual policies and making real change, let’s just rely on fictional characters to save the day.
But hey, at least Aquaman is on our side, right? I mean, who needs clean oceans when we can have a hot guy in tight swim trunks telling us it’s all good? And don’t even get me started on movies like The Day After Tomorrow or Geostorm – because nothing screams “accurate depiction of climate change” like over-the-top natural disasters.
But in all seriousness, this study just shows how out of touch Hollywood really is. Maybe next time they can focus on important issues instead of just trying to make a quick buck. Or maybe we should just stick to watching documentaries – because who needs fictional stories when our reality is scary enough?
